Monetize Blogs

Posted @ December 11, 2008  |  Categorized Under: Blogs, Guides, Other

Blogging is a lot of work if you are up at night writing and researching for three hours. It does take a lot of time, I will not deny that. Here are a few tips to maximize your blog’s potentials.

  • Drive Traffic to Your Blog

Organic traffic from search engines is what you’re always suppose to be focusing on. Work with your main keyword, search this keyword in search engines and advertise on the top sites you see on the list. Search engines love fresh content, be sure to update your blog daily with new content.

Link Exchanges
Link exchanging is another way of driving traffic and build backlinks without using any of your profits. Search for partners relating to your niche.

Advertising
Always have some money set aside for marketing your blog, my suggestions are to pay for directory submission services to help build your backlink and pagerank. Purchase text link or banner advertising on webmaster sites, such as blogs, forums and such.

  • Keywords only about a specific topic

Say you made a post today about the internet, what would the postmostly talk about? Yes, that’s right – the internet. Blog posts would mainly only talk about one thing, it would be easier for search engines to determine its theme thus making it rank higher than a webpage talking about both the internet and music piracy.

  • Keyword Density

Not many people would like to read 1000 words for a blog post each day, thats why posts are so short, so having the post only talking about one subject means that you have a good chance of a high keyword density.Having keyword rich titles give search engines a good overview of your site and also increases your keyword prominence (how early a keyword appears in text).

  • Permalinks

Having your URLs as www.yourblog.com/blogpost-title or www.yourblog.com/blogpost_title is more search engine friendly
than having www.yourblog.com/?p=123. Most blogging systems (like WordPress) gives you the ability to change this.

  • Subscriptions

Services such as BlogLet allows you to generate a form for your visitors to subscribe to your blog.
Everytime you update with a new entry, your subscribers receives an email notification.

  • TrackBacks

So what are trackbacks?
Trackbacks, also known as pingbacks is a method in blogs that enables automatic cross-references between weblog articles.
For example, if someone writes an entry on the importance of water, and you have a related article base on the topic, you can point your entry link to the article you just viewed. This way readers can read your piece too via the link submitted.

  • Ping

Ping.in is a blog ping service that pings or notifies weblog services and blog directories that your blog has been updated. Thus enabling them to index your blog fast and make your content available for a larger audience.

Mozilla Firefox: The Basics

Posted @ December 7, 2008  |  Categorized Under: Other

Firefox is a great internet browser program that has taken over the market. Internet explorer, one of its main competitions is not as popular as the internet browser Firefox. Many are using Firefox nowadays instead of the original Internet Explorer. Many people also say that Firefox is a better internet browser than Internet Explorer; but that’s just an opinion. There are pros and cons to both browsers.

Firefox is created by Mozilla so it is also sometimes known as the Mozilla Firefox. This internet browser was descended from the Mozilla Application Suite and managed by the Mozilla Corporation. Unlike Internet Explorer, Firefox had tabbed browsing which allowed easier internet surfing with one application running but multiple tabs. Another great internal function is the spell checker, this was new to the internet browser industry but now when you use Firefox and make a typing mistake, just like Microsoft word there will be a list of suggested corrections. Also there is a download manager included. Another great feature is that there is an integrated search system that uses whatever the user?s choice of a search engine.

These are not the only functions of Firefox but Mozilla had opened it to allow add-ons from third party developers. There are over 2,000 add-ons for Firefox as of now and still growing. Some of these add-ons include the FoxyTunes which controls music player, Adblock Plus, blocking unwanted ads and much more.

As Firefox is a very popular browser, Mozilla had not stopped and created Firefox 2. Just like the original Firefox, Firefox 2 brought many surprises. Although we know that this will not be the end as Mozilla had started to test out version 3. The first version ever made of Mozilla Firefox is the Phoenix, after that was the Mozilla Firebird, this slowly turned to the Mozilla Firefox and then Mozilla Firefox 2.

The Mozilla Firefox 3 had entered its test phase at around April 2008. In version 2.0, a great new feature which created more people to start using Firefox was the session restoration. This means that when the browser crashes and you have several tabs open, you are now allowed to restore those tabs when you open Firefox again. No surprises there, Mozilla firefox will never stop. The current version of Firefox is more stable and had many security fixes.

Firefox?s market share of the web browsers had never stopped growing. Unlike its other competitors such as Safari, Opera, Netscape, Mozilla Firefox has been growing at a fast rate like never seen before. Firefox 2, the current version takes up 17.84% of the web browsers market share not including Internet Explorer. Total of all Mozilla Firefox versions, it had taken up 17.83% of the browser market that are non-Internet explorer.

Overall, Mozilla Firefox now in version 2 had a great impact on the web browser industry. More and more people are now using it as it is probably the best internet browser with the fasting rising popularity out there. With its many great features and security, it?s no doubt why people would choose to use Firefox rather than the other browsers. A free web browser with over two thousand add-ons to date.
