Morgan’s business partner Bill Luckett said yesterday (06.08.08): “They are involved in a divorce action. For legal and practical purposes, they have been separated since December of 2007.”

Morgan and costumer Myrna, who have been married for 24 years, have two children together.
The 71-year-old Oscar winner also has two other children from previous relationships.
The couple met when Morgan was working in an off-Broadway theatre production in 1976 and they married in 1984.

Meanwhile, Morgan is said to be in a stable condition in a Memphis hospital following his car crash on Sunday (03.08.08). ‘The Dark Knight’ actor suffered a broken arm and elbow as well as severed nerves after his car overturned twice into a ditch in rural Mississippi.

Morgan’s passenger Demaris Meyer, 48, escaped with minor injuries, but the star was said to be in a critical condition when admitted to hospital.
Morgan is now said to be making a good recovery, after doctors operated to reattach his nerves. His agent has confirmed he is walking again and Bill Luckett added that he was “in good health”.

Aiken’s mother told a local Raleigh, N.C., TV station that the American Idol runner-up is the proud papa of a baby boy named Parker Foster Aiken.

John Edwards told ABC News that he “lied repeatedly” about the affair with “a 42-year-old woman” but said that he didn’t love her.

He has not taken a paternity test but “knows he isn’t the father” of her love child because of the timing of the affair and the birth.
Rielle Hunter’s daughter, Frances Quinn Hunter, was born February 27, 2008. The birth certificate filed in California lists no father’s name.

This particular award ceremony always tends to bring out the biggest players in Hollywood. Regardless of whether or not a celebrity is a musician, they still want to be associated with the music industry’s top award show. One can expect the red carpet to be glittered with clothes from the hottest designers, and diamonds worth more than the average home.

Some of the artists selected to perform at the Grammy’s this year include Kanye West, John Mayer, Amy Winehouse, and BeBe Winans. Kanye is leading all nominees with a grand total of eight nominations, and is expect to clean up tonight.

At the other end of the spectrum, there’s Amy Winehouse. Still in rehab and reeling from a non-stop streak of bad publicity, Winehouse is really looking to try and make her performance tonight a sign that she still has what it takes to entertain the masses.

The award show will be broadcast in HDTV on CBS tonight from 8 – 11:30 pm (EST). To catch some of the red carpet arrivals, try tuning in around 7 o’clock to be safe.

Drifting slightly from her country roots, Underwood has really made an attempt to appeal to the Top 40 music audience to increase the reach of her music. Wearing skimpy little black shorts and a pair of boots is more expected from the likes of a Britney Spears or Rihanna.

Carrie Underwood’s live performance was first class, and will be remembered as one of the highlights of the evening. The directors of the Grammys went with a sure bet in Underwood to deliver a solid opening act, as they gave current rehab resident Amy Winehouse a slot later in the show after things were already going.

Last year Underwood surpassed Faith Hill, becoming the rising queen of country music. The deadly combination of her amazing voice and stunning looks has made her a household name.

The show, set to take place January 13th, will be devoid of any Screen Actors Guild members, meaning that all the nominees and most audience members will be staying home.

SAG president Alan Rosenberg told press, “After considerable outreach to Golden Globe actor nominees and their representatives over the past several weeks, there appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross Writers Guild of America picket lines to appear on the Golden Globe Awards as acceptors or presenters. We applaud our members for this remarkable show of solidarity for striking Writers Guild of America writers.”

And with that kind of a situation, it is doubtful if the Golden Globes will be worthwhile. Jorge Camara, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced, “The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has been placed in an extremely difficult position with the ongoing Writers Guild strike. We are making every effort to work out a solution that will permit the Golden Globes to take place with the creative community present to participate. We hope to announce a resolution to this unfortunate predicament on Monday.”

As of now, NBC still plans to run the awards.

The 81st annual parade will also feature the cast of “Legally Blonde” minus costumes and props, which are locked behind the picket lines of striking Broadway stagehands.

This year’s 11 giant helium balloons include three new ones: William Steig’s swamp-loving ogre, “Sesame Street’s” fairy-in-training Abby Cadabby and Hello Kitty Supercute, the cape- and tiara-wearing feline superhero.

When the parade gets under way Thursday, it’ll be to a Michael Feinstein tune especially written for 600 kids from around the nation whose opening number was choreographed by John Dietrich of the Radio City Rockettes.

Some 10,000 people will march this year, half of them Macy’s employees.

Among them will be almost 2,000 cheerleaders, 800 clowns, the Rockettes and 11 marching bands including the Virginia Tech Regimental Band — nicknamed the Highty-Tighties — on the route from Central Park West to Herald Square in front of Macy’s.

Four Broadway shows — “Legally Blonde,” “Mary Poppins,” “Young Frankenstein” and “Xanadu” — nabbed coveted positions in the parade, the only annual event besides the Tony Awards where Broadway struts its stuff on national TV.

Because Broadway stagehands are locked in a contract dispute with the League of American Theatres and Producers, cast members of “Legally Blonde” won’t be able to use their costumes and props when they perform the show’s “What You Want.”

The strike has shut down that show, but the other three productions in the parade have not been affected because their theaters have separate contracts with the league.

“We’re going to have a national spot on television and we’re going to be half represented,” said Jerry Mitchell, “Legally Blonde’s” director and choreographer. “We’re going to be the only musical performing without our props and costumes, which I find very disheartening.”

They planned to use replacements, which most spectators likely won’t notice since the lead role involves a law student who loves to wear pink.

Because anyone appearing in the parade falls under a TV contract with the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, “Legally Blonde” performers will not be crossing picket lines by marching, according to their union, Actors’ Equity.

The parade will be televised nationally on NBC from 9 a.m. to noon in all time zones, with areas of the country not on Eastern time watching a taped version.

“I feel it is crazy,” said Megan, who was to serve her second detention Tuesday after classes at Mascoutah Middle School.

“I was just giving them a hug goodbye for the weekend,” she said.

Megan’s mother, Melissa Coulter, said the embraces weren’t even real hugs — just an arm around the shoulder and slight squeeze.

“It’s hilarious to the point of ridicule,” Coulter said. “I’m still dumbfounded that she’s having to do this.”

District Superintendent Sam McGowen said that he thinks the penalty is fair and that administrators in the school east of St. Louis were following policy in the student handbook.

It states: “Displays of affection should not occur on the school campus at any time. It is in poor taste, reflects poor judgment, and brings discredit to the school and to the persons involved.”

Coulter said she and her husband told their daughter to go ahead and serve her detentions because the only other option was a day of suspension for each skipped detention.

“We don’t agree with it, but I certainly don’t want her to get in more trouble,” Coulter said.

The couple plan to attend the next school board meeting to ask board members to consider rewording the policy or be more specific in what is considered a display of affection.

“I’m just hoping the school board will open their eyes and just realize that maybe they shouldn’t be punishing us for hugs,” Megan said.
